Our Los Tuneles Galapagos tour is one of the most popular things to do in Isabela. Take a 45 minute speed boat ride to the western side of Puerto Villamil, and cruise around the lava formations. The boat will then dock and you will have the opportunity to walk across some of the lava platforms. Back onboard the boat continue along the coast another 10 minutes and arrive to a protected area. Enter the water and snorkel around the inner tunnels, swimming with the famous Galapagos sea life. Lunch will then be provided onboard before returning to Puerto Villamil.

The island of Isabela is home to an active volcano you can visit. Take a 45 minute drive into the Isabela highlands to the Galapagos National Park Control Point, 900 meters above sea level. From there ascend on foot for approximately 45 minutes to the edge of the Sierra Negra caldera. The caldera edge is mostly flat, and the group will walk for approximately 1 hour along a section of the volcano edge. Here take a break and enjoy the included packed lunch, then depending on the conditions, either take the trail to Volcán Chico or the newer trail to Sierra Negra Volcano’s last eruption site. Then return to Puerto Villamil.

Tintoreras

From the main dock of Puerto Villamil take a panga boat ride around the Tintoreras lava formations observing colonies of penguins and blue footed boobies. Then at one of the lava platforms and walk across the flat terrain where it is possible to see many marine iguanas and Galapagos sea lions colonies. Then enter the water and snorkel. There is the chance to see Galapagos sharks, sea turtles, sea lions and swimming marine iguanas. After snorkeling return to the main dock.

Beginning at the main dock of Puerto Villamil, in the island of Isabela, paddle out to the Tintoreras area and around the lava rock formations. The guide will point out the different Galapagos animals as you paddle such as sea birds, sea lions and marine iguanas. There is also the opportunity so see underwater  marine life such as rays, sea turtles and white tip reef sharks.

Isla Tortuga

After a 45 minute speed boat ride arrive at Tortuga Island. Cruise around the island observing nesting Galapagos sea birds such as blue footed boobies, nasca boobies, frigate birds, lava gulls and tropical birds. Then enter the water for deep water snorkelling around the outer area of the island. There is a very good chance to see hammerhead sharks and giant manta rays. After snorkeling the tour then travels out to Loberia Grande. During this time there will be an opportunity to deep sea fish with the crew. Upon arrival to Loberia Grande enjoy the included boxed lunch, and then have a final opportunity for more deep water snorkeling. The tour then returns to Puerto Villamil.

Bicycles are available to rent to ride to the Wall of Tears. Before you head out we will give you directions for the best path to take and then you are free to explore. As you travel towards the Wall of Tears you will pass a beautiful beach where you can stop and swim. From there you will enter the Wetlands where there are short trails you can take to explore. On your ride you will likely see giant tortoises and many Galapagos sea birds.

Depart by vehicle to the Galapagos National Park check point, from which you will begin the 3 km walk to the Sulfur Mines. As you walk you will have the opportunity to observe different plant life and species that call Sierra Negra Volcano home.

Once you reach the volcano’s caldera you will take the rocky path down and walk across the salt layer, where you can see the green sulfur emissions rising up into the sky. Enjoy a packed lunch on the edge of the caldera before walking back down to the checkpoint.

4 Hermanos & Cartago Bay

Depart the main dock of Puerto Villamil and travel for approximately one hour by speed boat to the four island rock formations known as Los 4 Hermanos, or The 4 Brothers. Here you have the opportunity to deep sea fish with the crew, with the chance to catch tuna and other deep sea varieties. Any fish caught can be prepared by the crew as ceviché to enjoy onboard. After fishing, take the to water for some deep sea snorkeling. Around Los 4 Hermanos there is the chance to see hammerhead sharks, Galapagos Sharks and manta rays.

In the afternoon you will head over to Cartago Bay, a protected area for shallow water snorkeling. Here you have the chance to swim with sea turtles, rays, sharks and a variety of fish.
